Your Medications

Recovery Instructions
🧊
Swelling & Bruising
Apply a cold compress gently around the eye for 10 minutes every hour for the first 24–48 hours. Swelling peaks at 48–72 hours and gradually settles over 2–4 weeks.
🛏️
Head Elevation
Sleep with your head elevated on 2–3 pillows for the first week. A recliner is an excellent option to keep your head elevated comfortably overnight. Avoid bending forward or lying flat as this worsens swelling.
💊
Pain Management
For any post-operative discomfort, ice is your friend. If you are able, acetaminophen (Tylenol) is a good place to start. Otherwise, if you were prescribed pain medications, take them as indicated.
👁️
Eye Drops & Ointment
Use antibiotic drops or ointment as prescribed by Dr. Mancera. Use lubricating drops regularly — dry eye is common after periorbital surgery.
🩹
Wound Care
Apply prescribed ointment to your suture lines as directed. Do not rub or pick at wounds.
🚫
Activity Restrictions
Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and swimming for 2 weeks. Avoid bending or straining that increases facial blood pressure.
☀️
Sun Protection
Wear sunglasses outdoors. Once healed, use SPF 50+ on scars for at least 6–12 months to minimise pigmentation changes.
💼
Return to Work
Most patients return to desk work within 1–2 weeks. Make-up can conceal bruising after 10–14 days once wounds are healed.
🚗
Driving
Do not drive until your vision is clear and comfortable and you are off all sedating medication. Discuss with Dr. Mancera at your follow-up.
